The HFTC is being held in Queensland from 15th-17th Sept, where student teams from across Australian Universities compete in the inter-professional oriented activity. The faculty is supporting a team of 4 students (a combination of health-related disciplines in the faculty) to attend this year's competition, including covering travel/accommodation-associated costs.

At Australian Gastroenterology Week this year, GESA are running a "generalist" Gastro-Hep update. This occurred for the first time in Brisbane last year with greater than 300 attendees. It is an opportunity for people NOT directly involved in Gastroenterology and Hepatology to hear from the experts at low cost with many topics covered and an opportunity to attend more of the meeting also if they are so minded.
The Balint Society of Australia and New Zealand (BSANZ) essay competition is for medical students, and has been run in 2015 and 2017. First prize is $500 with the opportunity for publication.
