There is a research opportunity for students who are keen to work with ICU Registrar Sam Gluck who is completing a PhD. The project involves data collection and the students involved would be part of the research team, receive training in research governance and the consent process, as well as be given a voluntary appointment with ICU research, and receive authorship on any manuscripts that originate from the project. The project involves using Google Maps Timeline data from patients' smartphones to assess patients' risk of readmission to hospital. The students would approach patients admitted under General Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and facilitate gathering this data from patients using their smartphone and several questionnaires. The students would be expected to attend the Royal Adelaide Hospital on rostered days to recruit patients.

In 2019 the Australia and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting is being held in Adelaide. They are looking for volunteers to help from Monday 13th - Wednesday 15th of May, at the Adelaide Convention Centre. This is a great opportunity to volunteer at a large event.
