MedCamp is an annual weekend away for all year levels held in Normanville at the start of the pre-clinical academic year.
This event is designed primarily for our new incoming First Year students, as a chance to get to know each other and build lifelong friendships with fellow students and older years.
Run by Second Year students, this is a jam-packed weekend not to be missed by any medical students. This year has seen some changes to the traditional running format, in particular that it will be run only on Friday night and Saturday. This means the First Years get a ‘COVID-normal’ MedCamp experience, while the older years can still join in for the Saturday beach afternoon to catch up with old friends and meet the incoming First Year cohort.
We won't spoil all the fun, but here's some of what you can expect:
- Friday Night - First Years (and Second Year Helpers) arrive, settle in and start off with a fun night of socialising including quiz night! The theme this year is Med in Black, so come wearing your smartest black suit, or alien costume for an evening of fun.
- Saturday Morning - Educational activities. These range from suturing to blood pressure taking to simulation trauma scenarios, and are a great way to get to know each other too.
- Saturday Afternoon – The older years join us for an afternoon of beach fun, with team games, sports and bonding activities.
- Saturday Evening – Finish off with a BBQ and drinks at the beach, after which all head home to Adelaide to enjoy your long weekend!
See you at MedCamp, because hey, the world’s not going to save itself.
