Rushan Khurram 5th Year

Dear AMSS,

Above all, I hope my genuine excitement to serve this Society comes across. The AMSS has spoiled me with people who shaped me. 2025 Exec and everyone along the way gave me a family and memories I don’t need Anki for. It would be a privilege to pay that forward in my final year.

AMSS thrives on three things:

1.Community & Culture:
Culture, Culture, Culture. Worth three words of my word count, because it turns a cohort into community. It’s Jazz Night, thousands of us together for a night nobody forgets. But equally its the fourth-year who stays back to teach a second-year ECGs, its those who come to committee meeting for sushi but stay for the cumby. The big nights are what we’re known for, but the small ones are what we’re made of.

2.Advocacy:
I’m eager to expand advocacy on three fronts. Team Ed - continuing to build the MD around our needs. Second, for each-other, with initiatives like Paid Placement, forging partnerships with SASMOA/AMA to ensure everyone gets a fair go. Finally, outwards by learning to use our voice for issues in the wider community. We’ll no longer accept ‘this is how it’s always been’.

3.Listening:
The AMSS is full of brilliant people. I see this role as a megaphone for amplifying everyone’s voice and turning ideas into action. Nobody joins to be a name on a mailing list.
I believe it's not my job to have all the best ideas, but to notice when you do.

I promise to give everything (including unparalleled vibes on the dance floor), to deliver all three - because when we get this right, the AMSS does what it does best: changing “how do I survive” med school to “how can we thrive.”

Kyan Reimers 4th Year

Hi AMSS!

With the BMS/MD seeing its first graduates, 2027 is a point of inflection; an opportunity to reflect on what works, advocate for what doesn’t, before it becomes “that’s just how it is”.

After a year contributing to national advocacy as your AMSA Rep, I realised the voice of advocacy is YOU, the AMSS. The MedSoc that sets standards nationwide. I hope to channel this passion for advocacy with you to shape your everyday medical school experience.

The status quo doesn’t argue, so we must; and I would be honoured to champion your voices as VP(E) in 2027.

1. Your Daily Experience

Team Ed is already incredibly high-functioning, and I want to build on that legacy by:
- Strengthening inter-year tutoring through targeted Teaching Series for BMS students before exams and third-year OSCEs
- Celebrating Adelaide’s incredible peer-to-peer teaching culture through social media takeovers and group shout-outs
- Increasing visibility through media posts for how we are addressing your concerns with the medical school and the resultant outcomes

2. Advocacy That Delivers

Great advocacy is not just about raising issues; it is about seeing meaningful change. I will continue strong collaboration with AMSA and SASMOA for CPP, AUSA and team equity, while maintaining constructive Faculty relationships and ensuring our AMC survey translates into palpable change. I want students to see these wins through short-form video updates and social media promotion, connecting advocacy directly to your everyday experience.

3. Team Ed Family

Exec in 2025 and convening MedRevue taught me that the strongest teams are built through genuine community. I want Team Ed to be a family that people are eager to belong to: taking meetings beyond the AHMS, creating opportunities for social connection, and building a visible, tight-knit team across all six years and wider committee.

Chirath Lekamge 4th Year

@youramss,
I’m Chirath, and I’d be thrilled to be your VP(C)!

This community has given me so much: dear friends, unforgettable memories and a second home. So, giving back is a no-brainer.

To me, VP(C) is about more than Instagram posts. It’s how the AMSS communicates, connects and represents you. I’ve seen the best of us through AMSS Exec in 2025, and serving as GPSN President and AUDPS Treasurer this year. I’ve also seen some rather comical L’s from my time as a H&W Officer… but taking care of each other is what makes the AMSS great. After all, what are leaders if not caretakers of the community they serve?

Having worked in Marketing, Events & Communications in the education sector, and in the AMSA GHC Media & Marketing Management Team in 2024, I have a love for photography, videography, marketing and, importantly, bringing communities together.

Here is my vision for 2027 with my ‘Four C’s of VP(C)’:

1. Community: Building on the great work of my forebears by platforming events and initiatives across social media and member mailouts. Think highlight videos, reels and giveaways!

2. Culture: You, all of our members, are the beating heart of this Society. I want to flip the camera to more student-led initiatives: regular student spotlights, society takeovers and features to showcase the diversity and hard work of our cohorts to platform what really matters - our people.

3. Change: Our role as advocates has never been more important. I want to champion the issues that matter to students through stronger communication and PR opportunities between students and organisations like SASMOA, AMA(SA) and AMSA — turning awareness into action, not just another post on the feed.

Rachel Hay 5th Year

Hey AMSS!
 
I’m Rachel, and if I’m elected treasurer I promise to make the M in AMSS stand for Money. I’m better with numbers than words, so here’s an acrostic poem to express my vision:
 
T: Tasks - I LOVE TASKS SO MUCH - I would love to do all the reimbursements, bookings and invoices.
R: Rachel - I’ve checked the spelling of my own name twice, and that’s about how many times I’d check you’re getting the right reimbursement amount.
E: Everywhere – I love the fact that the treasurer gets to be involved in every corner of the AMSS, from the biggest ball of the year to a Tuesday H&W bake sale.  
A: Accomplished - my time as deputy treasurer has given me the skills, and my experience with TeamEd, being rural rep this year and ed rep for previous years makes me excited to work in a team again!
S: Spreadsheets – guaranteed to be organised, colour coded and pretty.
U: Useful - I will happily mop the floors of Preskeg at 2am.
R: Respectful - I’m so excited at the prospect of working with all the different teams, convenors and committee members on making everyone’s ideas come to life!
E: Enthusiastic - about numbers and keeping this society thriving in a financially sustainable manner.
R: Responsive - as someone chronically on her phone (largely playing soduku) my response times will be generational.
 
Most of all, I want to give back to a society that has given me so much. Exec, to me, is about camaraderie across year levels and turning everyone’s ideas into the best nights of the year. I’d love to be a part of that for one last year - and this time with receipts to show for it.

Zoe Richards 5th Year

Hi everyone! I’m Zoe Richards, a 5th year applying for Socials Officer in 2027. One of my favourite features of our social calendar is obtaining the famed P.E.A.R. (Perfect Event Attendance Record) patch. Here is the P.E.A.R. pitch for why I should be your AMSS Socials Officer:

P: Pretty obsessed with ensuring the AMSS hosts events so good the FMSS keep begging for plus ones!
E: Experienced. I survived convening MedCamp 2023, PresKeg 2024, MedBall 2025 & acting as DepCon for AMSA ADL26 Convention and am ready for my next challenge
A: Affordability. I am committed to keeping tickets accessible despite the climbing cost of living, ensuring you know what every dollar gets you :moneybag:
R: Ready to take YOUR feedback, so we can bring you exactly what you want from each event.

Reigniting the return of MedCamp to Camp Dzintari with zero personal experience of the classic weekend (thank you COVID) taught me AMSS values and team problem-solving. Breaking PresKeg out from the Adelaide Gaol to liven it back up taught me brutal budget management and how to negotiate with new venues. Transforming MedBall into a massive stand-up event at the Adelaide Oval proved how crucial member feedback is to meet the expectations of a massive cohort.

As Deputy Convenor (Socials/Logistics) for AMSA’s 67th National Convention, I battled with venues and accommodation while organising three back-to-back themed nights at different exciting venues, capped off with a Morphettville Racecourse gala for 800 attendees. This relied heavily on my love for Google spreadsheets, strong interpersonal skills, and creative problem solving.

Working under Grace Mitchell, Libby Chisholm, Imogen Ingham, and Ellen Thomas has provided incredible role models. I’d love to continue their legacy of running amazing events in iconic locations, adding my own touch alongside the 2027 Convenors.

Jethro Edullantes 2nd Year

Hey guys, I hope you’re doing well!

What I value most about AMSS is how much it adds to the experience of studying medicine. Whether it’s the events you look forward to, the people you meet, the platform AMSS provides, or the smaller moments in between, it all helps make six years of medicine feel more connected.

Since 2025, I’ve been involved across TeamEd, AMSS events, other medical societies and, of course, AMSA ADL26. Through those experiences, I’ve learnt that good engagement often comes down to a few things: feeling welcomed, knowing your voice has been heard, lending a hand when needed, and being open to feedback.

If elected, I would focus on three things.

Make membership worthwhile: I want to build on the benefits, partnerships and merchandise people already enjoy, while finding new ideas that add something back to AMSS. Such as extending the discount to more Yo-Chi locations? Yuku-Do? Sit Lo? Arc’teryx or Patagucci? Too ambitious? Never.

Keep all six years connected: Naturally, as we move from AHMS into clinical placements around South Australia staying connected to the wider AMSS community becomes less easy. I want to keep creating reasons for every year level to feel involved, from O’Week through to sixth year + beyond.

Be a familiar face: Engagement is ultimately about people. I want any one of you to feel comfortable approaching me with an idea, feedback, help, wisdom (I’m old), or something you want help getting across the line. I want to get to know the people who make AMSS what it is, understand what matters most, and help create the spaces and opportunities for ideas to grow.

I’d love the privilege of bringing my energy, creativity and willingness to get involved as Engagement Officer in 2027.

Maddie Moss 5th Year

Med school has exposed me to countless epic AMSS events, but also (unfortunately) to our dysfunctional, disjointed healthcare system. I’m nominating to be your AMA(SA) Representative to play my part in fixing it.

It’s easy as ABC:

Advocacy: passionate about paid placements, specialty bottlenecking, and culture for junior doctors
Bringing experience from roles as VPC and SASMOA Student Representative
Committed to the cause: committee member for the newly formed SA Student Medical Council, keen to work in health advocacy/politics alongside my career as a doctor

Sienna Masen 4th Year

Hi, I’m Sienna! Much like orange juice, I’m hoping to bring something fresh and positive to the Senior AMSA Rep role in 2027.

Next year, I’ll focus particularly on issues such as paid placements and equity, and collaborate appropriately with the newly formed SA MSC to ensure our advocacy is connected locally and nationally. I’ll also build on Adelaide’s strong Convention culture and create more opportunities for students to engage with AMSA.

With experience as our 2025 JAMSA and a member of the GHC24 and ADL26 teams, I’m ready to squeeze every opportunity from the role! #yoursinorange

Hi AMSS!

Witnessing an amazing year of Convention and advocacy has inspired me to don the orange and bring on all things AMSA:

A=AMSS presence at all AMSA events/initiatives, from BRIS27 to Vampire Cup to Run2Fly, collaborating with the jAMSA.

M=Momentum - continuing to bridge the gap between Adelaide and AMSA after an incredible Convention!

S=Sponsorship and Subcom (ADL26 Convention) experience that is directly transferrable.

A=Advocacy - from Think Tank to parliament: amplifying AMSS’ voices on a national stage about issues and Policies you care about!

We’re excited to nominate for Educational Programs Coordinators! Between the four of us, we bring proven leadership, educational experience, and deep understanding of medical student needs (+ big brains, see image attached!).
