READ ALL ABOUT IT- MED SCHOOL SELECTION CRITERIA
There has been a lot of press about the selection criteria for entry into Medicine at The University of Adelaide, culminating in a heated article titled 'School for Dummies'.
Read 'We're no dummies, says medical school' from The Advertiser (20/4).
Read 'Medical school's selection success' from The Advertiser (21/4).

HIGHER EDUCATION REFORMS
It is the AMSS’s view that an increase to tuition fees for the degree of Medicine should only be made if there is a corresponding increase in the quality of teaching and education for the students within that degree.

DOMESTIC FULL FEE PAYING PLACES
It is the AMSS’s view that there should be no introduction of domestic full-fee paying places for the degree of Medicine at the University of Adelaide on the basis that this does not allow for equity of access to a degree that has impacts on the provision of essential healthcare to the rest of society.

LOCAL QUOTAS FOR ADELAIDE MEDICAL SCHOOL
At the October '04 AMA(SA) Council Meeting, the issue of whether Adelaide University should impose a quota for local students (about 70%) was raised. Quotas are being proposed as a measure to solve South Australia's Medical Workforce Crisis.
The AMSS Committee has previously voted against the introduction of a quota. We thought that other measures should be taken to address workforce issues.
