AMSS AGM nominations now open!

The dust of Medball has settled and the mid-semester break is rapidly approaching, bringing with it the AMSS Annual General Meeting. The AGM begins with an exciting wrap-up of the year’s events, followed by the election process for the 2010 AMSS executive and committee. The AGM will be held on Thursday, September 17th and the nominations for all positions are officially open as of Tuesday, September 1st. Interested students need to submit a short written nomination and deliver a short speech on the night of AGM. Elections will be decided by legitimate proxy votes and voting by any AMSS member present at the AGM.

Finding out more

If you are interested in being involved in the AMSS committee or executive in 2010, then take some time to read through the individual position summaries written by this year’s position holders. These will hopefully give you some insight into the positions and what they entail. You may even like to contact the current position holder directly to ask them about any questions you may have.

Nominating

Once you have decided upon a position, or multiple positions, for which you wish to nominate yourself, then complete the online nomination form and include a brief summary of why you are suitable for the position. You may also deliver hand-written nominations to the AMSS office on the ground floor of the Eleanor Harrald Building. Nominations for executive positions should be no more than 150 words and nominations for committee positions must be under 75 words in length. Word limits will be enforced.

Proxy votes

Nominations for all positions will be open right up until the night of the AGM. However, nominations submitted by Friday, September 11th will also be eligible for proxy votes - your written nomination will be posted on the AMSS website to help guide people submitting proxy votes. Proxy votes can be submitted by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by any AMSS member unable to make the AGM due to genuine illness, being placed on a country rotation or other reasonable justification.

Nominations are open now, so get involved!
