Committee

The Committee forms the most important body within the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society (AMSS or the Society). It is a diverse group comprising approximately seventy Officers from all six year levels of the undergraduate Medical Program at the University of Adelaide. The general role of the Committee is to represent the voice of the wider membership of the Society. The Committee meets on an almost-fortnightly basis during the Academic Year to decide upon important directives regarding all aspects of the function of the AMSS, from the location of MedBall right through to our official standpoint on an educational matter. These directives are then acted upon by the Executive in the time between meetings of the Committee.

The Committee is comprised of Officers with myriad different skills and responsibilities. The AMSS Photographer, Skullduggery Convenor(s), Sixth Year Education Representative and IT Officer are all members of the Committee and all have equal voting rights. Given such a varied group of contributors within the context of a student organisation, meetings of the Committee are generally interesting and frequently hilarious!

It is important to note that all members of the AMSS are very welcome to attend meetings of the Committee, regardless of whether or not they happen to hold an official position on it. The attendance of observers is strongly encouraged.
