Call for Applications
On this Friday 2 September 2011, the Adelaide Medical Students Foundation Proprietary Limited (ACN 139 212 196) calls for applications for appointment as a Student Director.
Background
The Adelaide Medical Students’ Foundation (AMSF or the Foundation) is an independent body established and governed by current Adelaide Medical Students and past Graduates. It exists solely to serve and support Adelaide Medical Students at an individual, group and organisational level. The AMSF works closely with like-minded organisations such as the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society and University of Adelaide to provide direct, tangible support to Adelaide Medical Students. The values of the AMSF are: benevolence, integrity, vision.
The AMSF is comprised of a Trustee and a Trust. The Trustee is the Adelaide Medical Students’ Foundation Proprietary Limited, which is a company that is owned by the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society Incorporated. The Trustee is governed by a Board comprised of two Professors, a financial expert, two doctors and three current Adelaide Medical Students. The Trustee exists to administer the Trust, which is the Adelaide Medical Students’ Scholarship and Bursary Fund and which holds the capital.
There are two Student Directors that normally serve on the Board of the Adelaide Medical Students’ Foundation Proprietary Limited. These Student Director can be any current Adelaide Medical Student. The other current student that serves on the Board is drawn from the Executive of the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society.
Number of Positions Available
There is one (1) Student Director position available.
Length of Term
The length of term for a Student Director is the time between three (3) consecutive Annual General Meetings of the Adelaide Medical Students’ Foundation Proprietary Limited. This will equate to approximately two (2) years. The length of term will be shorter if the Student Director otherwise vacates their office as prescribed in Part 4 Clauses 31.4.2 to 31.4.4 and Clause 34 of the Constitution of the Adelaide Medical Students’ Foundation Proprietary Limited.
Remuneration
There is no remuneration for any Director on the Board.
Applications
Applications must include a completed copy of the Application Form. Applications may also include other documents deemed appropriate by the candidate, such as a curriculum vitae. Candidates should be aware that long documents may not be read. This Application Form is available below.
Submission
Submission of applications must be via email as a single Portable Document Format file to the Secretary at president@amss.org.au. The file should be titled with only the surname of the candidate. Applications must be submitted by 17:00 on Monday 3 October 2011.
Interview(s)
Interviews will not be required.
Notification
Candidates will be notified of the outcome of their applications by an email from the Secretary. This will occur no later than 17:00 on Monday 31 October 2011.

The appointment of a Student Director is conducted via secret ballot of the Board, and is governed by the relevant Regulations and By-Laws of the Adelaide Medical Students Foundation Proprietary Limited (ACN 139 212 196). These Regulations and By-Laws are available below.
