Executive
President
Mark Hassall
III
2009 is a year to thoroughly assess the rapid growth that we have undergone in recent years and thus aim to consolidate the quality opportunities we provide Adelaide Medical Students. We are all acutely aware of the large year cohorts and the recent explosion in society membership, as well as the ongoing social, academic and sporting expansion of our AMSS. Viewing these increases in light of a tightening annual budget, I feel we must plan wisely to guarantee our continued impressive success. I hope to be intimately involved in this planning and can deliver the skills required to achieve this.
Vice President
Sophie Nelson
III
To me, the medical school and the AMSS are synonymous. They don’t exist without each other...and nor should they. It is this passion and dedication for the AMSS that I hope to bring to the role of vice-president next year if elected. My relationship with the AMSS began Day 1 Week 1 of medical school and it has steadily grown ever since. Next year will mark my fourth year of involvement both on a committee and executive level and I believe that this, combined with my Insight marketing role this year, make for a successful VP.
Daina Rudaks
II
If a picture tells a thousand words, then I must have passed my lifetime word limit years ago. My involvement in marketing and design campaigns and as co-convenor of MedCamp has allowed me to better understand the workings of the AMSS and what its members respond to. 2008 has given me the opportunity to create logos, posters, online surveys, tickets, t-shirts and thank you cards for a range of events. I believe that this experience, along with my organised nature and love for pixels, would allow me to maintain and expand upon the high standard of marketing and communication that ... Sponsorship Officer
Andrew Shepherd
III
I would relish the chance to serve again next year as Sponsorship Officer, after doing it this year. I see great benefits for the Society in having continuity in this position to maintain the strong relationships with our major partners. My goals would be to secure sponsorship income for the AMSS in the future through long term agreements, seeking new major partners and finding an elusive MedBall sponsor. I have begun investigating companies for the latter two goals already. I have the energy, drive and commitment to achieve these goals – ultimately leading to more funds and greater benefits for members.
Membership Benefits Officer
Rocita Ho
II
Having spent much of my year loitering around the MedSchool Foyer selling tickets and heckling people for events; I would look forward to ensuring that these events continue to be carried out in excellence with full attendance. For this, our membership database must be maintained - better yet, expanded - by the MBO. I believe this role requires perseverance, commitment and an outgoing personality – qualities I pledge to bring to the position. Following discussion with past Officers, I understand this portfolio amounts to what one makes of it. Let me take on the challenge.
Treasurer
Thomas Crowhurst
III
I wish to serve as Treasurer in 2009 for a number of key reasons.I have much to give this portfolio: I have previous experience in Treasury, strengthened by significant previous involvement with the AMSS.I wish to tackle three crucial Treasury issues in 2009:- Our budget must be re-structured to more appropriately distribute funds between our affiliate organisations such as the AUSS and Insight;- The AMSS Foundation should be realised in 2009;- A backlog of unclaimed cheques must be analysed to release substantial funding; Finally, I would relish the opportunity to work on the Executive generally.
John Tillet
III
In nominating for treasurer I am seeking a responsible role in the AMSS in 2009. The opportunity to influence the expenditure of the AMSS over the year is exciting, allowing for input into a wide range of society ventures.I would also enjoy working to maintain the financial integrity of the society. I’d ensure that finances were kept closely up to date- with timely payments, and that banking would be regularly maintained. Fundamentally, I’m also committed to regular communication with the committee at meetings, ensuring there is wide understanding of the annual budget, and the ongoing factors affecting it.
Secretary
Despina Papps
II
I see the role of secretary as a pathway to be more involved in the hands-on running of the AMSS. My previous AMSS experience includes First Year Social Rep and 2008 MedCamp Co-Convenor. As a MedCamp organiser, my main responsibilities consisted of devising the budget, arranging security and liaising with the campsite. The experience that I gained will be valuable in preparation for this position. I have also been involved in other committees, including AURHA as Magazine Editor. I would enjoy this position because I want to ensure rural student issues are addressed from an AMSS as well as an SGRHS perspective. I’m currently in Mt Gambier (and loving it!) and spending next year in Kadina, meaning I’ll be aware of rural issues but not too far away.
Pre-Clinical Coordinator
Sam Ellison

As social representative, I've been heavily involved in many of the AMSS events this year, and as a second year I’ve had the experience of seeing two preclinical officers work before me. I would like to carry this experience and some new ideas into third year as preclinical coordinator.
