Over the last decade medical indemnity insurance has become a matter of increasing importance. Doctors are finding litigation suits filed against them with increasing regularity. Even students, particularly those on electives and placements, are not safe from this emerging issue. But, they can be protected. 

Five years ago the AMSS decided to enter into an exclusive deal with the Medical Insurance Group of Australia because it was believed that they offered the best protection for medical students in all years. Unlike other MDOs who only offer student membership MIGA offers a genuine insurance policy. Not only that, their head office is located in Adelaide, and as part of our sponsorship deal they provide AMSS members a full time student contact.

Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS)

The IMVS was established in 1938 and is the largest provider of pathology services in South Australia with 14 laboratories across the state, in both metropolitan and regional locations.

They are committed to providing quality, diverse pathology services to the RAH, other public and private hospitals, medical practitioners and specialists, industry and the general community.

The IMVS is government funded and uses its profits to support a variety of research and education projects. An integral aspect of these projects is the Hanson Centre for Cancer Research, which is primarily devoted to furthering the understanding of the causes and potential treatments of cancer.

Australian Medical Association (SA)

The AMA(SA) exists to provide a voice for the medical profession through representation, professional support, services and advices to its members. The AMA is the peak medical group representing over 28 000 doctors Australia wide.
