Adelaide University Psychiatry Association
The Adelaide University Psychiatry Association (AUPA) was established in the Adelaide Medical School in 2007 by a group of medical students who were keen to promote professional education in psychiatry and allied fields and to raise student awareness of some of the issues in mental health.
Since then AUPA has continued its work as a catalyst for the learning of those interested in the field of psychiatry. The association seeks the participation of students and is a resource for students interested in the field of psychiatry.
In addition to being a resource for students, AUPA aims to promote psychiatry amongst the student community by hosting such events as the ‘AUPA Lectures’ each year. These lectures are an opportunity to have experienced practioners speak to the students on a topic of interest, enabling students to benefit from their expertise. In the past these lecture topics have ranged from forensic psychiatry to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
